Regional Transportation Plans

Regional Transportation Planning Agencies play a critical role in shaping our communities. They guide our transportation investments for many modes of travel, including public transit, automobiles, trucks, trains, bicycles, pedestrians and to some extent airplanes. The Regional Transportation Plan provides the framework for prioritizing projects and developing a planning level schedule for implementation. This document has become increasingly important as funding resources constrict, planning efforts coordinate, and new programs expand.

Developing a Regional Transportation Plan

The purpose of the Calaveras County 2025 Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) is to provide the vision for the region, supported by transportation goals, for ten year (2025-2035) and twenty year (2035-2045) planning horizons. The RTP will assess the current modes of transportation in Calaveras County and the potential of new travel options within the region; identify projected growth corridors and predict the future improvements and needs for travel and goods movement; identify and document specific actions necessary to address the region’s mobility and accessibility needs; and determine prioritized regional transportation projects and funding strategies for Calaveras County over the next twenty years.
